Charles Armstrong Parent School Organization
CAPSO stands for Charles Armstrong Parent School Organization. We are your fellow parents that run the PTA of Charles Armstrong School. We provide the volunteers to help Charles Armstrong build community and raise funds to enhance the learning experience provided by Armstrong. CAPSO produces social and fundraising events and is the easiest way to become a proactive part of the Armstrong parent community.
Volunteering with CAPSO
Each year there are many school wide events – Book Fair, Jog-A Thon, Community Picnic, a Community Fundraiser for the whole family, Spring musical and many more class room activities such as field trips & special events. CAPSO provides the volunteers for these events and here's how you can help. Armstrong encourages each family to donate volunteer hours - 20 hours per year for each two parent family, 10 hours per year for each single parent family. Volunteer hours are tracked by CAPSO and you'll receive a volunteer acknowledgement statement with a summary of hours.
ArmstrongParent Yahoo! Group: Keeping in touch in our community
The Armstrong Parent Yahoo Group is an online e-mail tool we have created for parents of Armstrong students. Since we are a commuter school it is an easy way to read about school, community events, and to hear from parents like you. The Yahoo Group email is the primary way we communicate with each other at Armstrong. Please do not post advertisements etc. This list is for information sharing and gathering only.
What kind of information is on it?
• Carpool requests, including a database
• Volunteer requests throughout the school year
• Information regarding LD issues, educational initiatives, transition and fundraising activities
• Extra-curricular activities for kids
Our yahoo group name is "armstrongparents".

The CAPSO Bank
CAPSO is funded solely by the Armstrong Jog-a-thon, eScrip, and AmazonSmile. CAPSO pays for classroom activities, room parties, teacher gifts etc.
CAPSO has two fundraising events during the school year. The money from these events goes directly to fund classroom activities and support the teachers and staff with parties, teacher gifts, lunches, equipment. All proceeds from the Book Fair go directly to the Armstrong library.
Come out and enjoy the day with your community on Oct. 31st. The kids always have a great time jogging, getting colored hairspray, leis, stickers, and most importantly lots and lots of laughs! This is the one time CAPSO will ask you for a donation to help support our teachers, staff and your Children! CAPSO provides a budget for the classrooms, helps pay for Common Ground speakers, the Community Picnic, Teacher Appreciation dinner, and supports the monthly lunches.
Book Fair: October 29th – November 2nd
The Book Fair is held annually at Charles Armstrong School. All proceeds directly benefit the Charles Armstrong School library. Parents can sign up to volunteer, take a look at the books being offered or check out the fair hours. You can also print a Pre-Paid Certificate and return with check/cash to Student Serivces. We look forward to seeing you all there!
The eScrip program provides a very easy way to give. When you sign up for eScrip, a percentage of your grocery loyalty cards, credit cards, and debit/ATM purchases are given to the school. 100% of the eScrip proceeds are deposited into the Charles Armstrong Parent School Organization (CAPSO) bank. This means that 100% of your eScrip contribution directly supports the classroom.
