Raquel Garcia McGovern is the proud mom to twin teenagers. Her son attended Charles Armstrong from 2013-2017. Raquel has continued her connection with Charles Armstrong as a member of the Finance committee before joining the Board of Trustees in 2020.
She currently serves on the Development committee and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging committee. Raquel serves on the Board for the simple reason that she places a strong value on education and learning. Being first generation American, her parents instilled in her an appreciation for the importance of education; seeing it as the source of opportunity. Charles Armstrong provided this opportunity for her son, who was fortunate to have insightful teachers who recognized the need for a more specialized learning environment. Being a part of the Board keeps Raquel connected to Charles Armstrong and provides the opportunity to share similar life changing development with other families.
Raquel earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco and is ABD from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at New York University, where she currently serves as chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council. Raquel has been devoted to helping individuals meet their potential within their chosen work and has worked to do so in People & Culture/HR roles within a variety of organizations throughout her career. She, her husband and their twins live in Woodside, CA.
