It is estimated that one in five people have dyslexia. California now recognizes the need to identify these students for early intervention. By the 2025-26 school year, all California public school students in grades K-2 will be screened annually for reading difficulties including dyslexia. This screening will be a game changer for a large percentage of children who are not having their learning needs met. It’s a great time to raise awareness about dyslexia in our schools and communities.
It is one thing to know the definition of dyslexia. It is quite another to experience it firsthand. Armstrong is a West Coast leader in educating students with dyslexia and related learning differences. It is our goal to share our resources and serve more families beyond our campus.
With the Experience Dyslexia™ with Armstrong initiative, our experts will stage a dyslexia simulation for groups of up to 60 people. Through a series of guided activities that mirror what it’s like to have dyslexia in the classroom, non-dyslexics gain a profound appreciation for the difficulties these students face. Armstrong will host a few of these events and may be able to bring the simulation to interested schools and groups in the SF Bay Area. The event runs for approximately two hours and there is no fee for the service.
